About

Hands-on CTO with over 14 years' commercial experience across web agency and SaaS environments.

I am CTO of Music Gateway, a music distribution and promotion company whose platform integrates with Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Deezer. I lead engineering from platform stabilisation into product-led growth, owning technical strategy, delivery, infrastructure and engineering cost while staying close to the code.

Teams

I have hired and mentored six developers and two designers, and led a team of up to five developers and a designer. I now run a lean team through streamlined workflows and AI-assisted development.

Career

• Chief Technology Officer, Music Gateway, 2019 to present (joined in 2017 as a Full Stack Developer)
• Owner, Read Web Technology, 2012 to present: large bespoke WordPress and data-capture projects, plus hosting and maintenance, for agency and small-business clients, including high-traffic promotional campaign sites
• Technical Director, Paramount, 2014 to 2016: led a team of four developers delivering over 30 projects

Outside work

I build OVED, an independent strength-training platform in private beta, and the multi-agent AI engineering workflow that develops it. It is my testing ground for AI-assisted engineering done with real controls.

A few years ago I wrote that I wanted to work more with Python and React. OVED is where that happened: a Python analytics engine, React and React Native clients, and a Laravel application. My test-first habit goes back further: Ticket Nucleus, an earlier hobby project built with Laravel and Vue, was a complete exercise in test-driven development, with unit, feature and browser tests.
